Suggested Tour 7

Day 1 – Rio de Janeiro
Arrive early in the morning at Tom Jobin International Airport. Meet and greet by our German speaking guide and immediate transfer to the hotel by the beach. After a quick check-in and breakfast, we leave our baggage in the hotel and depart on a fullday tour of one of the most beautiful cities in the world. We will visit among many places, the statue of Christ atop Corcovado Mountain after driving through Tijuca Rain Forest; the city center; world famous Maracana Soccer Stadium; the Cathedral; riding the cablecars up to Urca and Sugar Loaf Mountain, Rodrigo de Freitas Lake and the beautiful beaches of Copacabana, Leblon and Ipanema. We will stop for lunch during the tour. Return to our hotel. Overnight.

Day 2 – Nova Friburgo
After a big Brazilian breakfast, we will travel two hours to the mountain resort of Nova Friburgo, founded in 1819 by Swiss settlers. The highlight of our tour will be to the cheese factory and school ‘Queijaria-Suissa', inaugurated in august of 1987, where different types of cheese are processed. We will also visit the Swiss Colony Museum which is adjacent to the cheese factory. Lunch is included in our tour. Return to our hotel in Rio.

Day 3 – Rio de Janeiro/Porto Alegre
After a leisurely breakfast we check-out of our hotel and transfer to Tom Jobim Airport for our flight to Porto Alegre, Our technical guide, Dr. Arno Dellmeyer will meet us at the airport. We will depart in our motorcoach, travelling to the town of Eldorado 50 kms from Porto Alegre to visit the Bierdoss family dairy farm. In the late afternoon we travel back to Porto Alegre and arrive at our hotel. Dinner at the hotel. Overnight.

Day 4 – Porto Alegre/Farroupilha/Porto Alegre
After a very hearty breakfast, we will travel 107 kms north to the town of Carlos Barbosa to visit the Cooperativa Santa Clara. The rest of the day we will visit the Tang Family and the Masignan Family dairy farms close to the town of Farroupolha, with lunch on one of the farms. In the afternoon we travel back to Porto Alegre, time permitting we will stop in Gramado, a highland holiday resort for a little leisure and shopping. Dinner at our hotel. Overnight.

Day 5 – Porto Alegre/Camaqua/Guaiba/ Porto Alegre
After breakfast, we travel 120 kms southwest to the town of Camaqua to visit the Cabanha (Farm) Estrela. During our visit, our lunch will be a typical gaucho barbacue. On our travel back to Porto Alegre, we will stop at the Silva Family Buffalo farm close to the town of Guaiba. Continue on to Porto Alegre arriving in the early evening. Dinner at our hotel. Overnight.

Day 6 – Porto Alegre
Up early this morning for breakfast, check-out of our hotel and transfer to the airport for our flight home.
